Food Pantry

Open Fridays 2:30pm-3:30 pm (closed first Friday of each month)

St. Stephen’s Church has been operating an all volunteer food pantry since 2000. Food pantry volunteers speak English and some Spanish.

The food pantry serves in the back parking lot off of Blossom Street. We give out bags of groceries. Thanks to our partnership with The Greater Boston Food Bank, our food pantry continues to serve many clients and their families.

Clients who are registered receive a laminated card. Presenting the card allows us to check off who we have served and provide necessary statistics to the Greater Boston Food Bank. Bring your card every week - if you lose your card you will need to re-register and we will reprint the card for you. Children below the age of 18 are not allowed to pick up food for the household. Whomever presents the registered card will be asked to confirm information about the client.

Unregistered people who come to the food pantry will be asked to fill out paperwork and then wait until 3:30, and if we have food left at that time, we will give it to you.

Registration is once a month on the second Friday of the month from 1pm to 2pm.

  • To register you need to bring one single document with your name and address.

  • You must be 18 years of age or older.

  • You must register in-person, you cannot register for someone else.

  • One registration per person/household/address.

Please be kind and fair to others;

  • Do not cut in line, ask your friends to join you in line or place a marker in the line and then leave the line. People wait in line for hours. You will be asked to go to the end of the line when you arrive.

  • If you find a card someone has dropped - please turn it in to one of our volunteers, and do not attempt to use it.

  • If you need to pick up an additional bag of food for a friend or neighbor, please inform the volunteer at check-in and be prepared to answer questions about that person. If you cannot do that, the volunteer will remove that card.

  • Volunteer . . . we are an all volunteer pantry and mostly elderly. We have a 10,000 pound delivery of food on the first Friday of every month at 10:30 am. If you are able to carry food into the pantry, weighing as much as 50 pounds, please contact Pam Poppe at 781 913 5190 and let her know you can help.
